Tree Plantation Drive

As part of its ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability and rural community development, Ashok Chourasia Trust organized a large-scale Tree Plantation Drive in the Purnia district of Bihar. The event aimed to raise awareness about climate change, promote ecological balance, and encourage local participation in creating a greener future.

Held in collaboration with local schools, panchayat members, and Self Help Groups (SHGs), the plantation drive focused on planting native and fruit-bearing trees across selected village areas. The initiative also involved awareness sessions on the importance of trees for air quality, water conservation, and soil health.

Objectives of the Event:

  • To improve green cover in rural areas of Bihar

  • To promote environmental awareness among youth and farmers

  • To engage community members in long-term environmental care

  • To encourage “One Family, One Tree” responsibility culture

Activities Conducted:

  • Plantation of over 500 saplings including neem, mango, jamun, and peepal

  • Involvement of school students, SHG women, and village elders

  • Awareness talk on climate change and water conservation

  • Distribution of tree care kits to ensure sapling survival

  • Cultural session and pledge ceremony on “Saving the Environment”

Community Participation:

The drive witnessed active participation from local families, school teachers, SHG members, and youth volunteers. The enthusiasm and ownership shown by the community have laid the foundation for sustained care and nurturing of the planted saplings.

Impact & Follow-up:

Ashok Chourasia Trust will regularly monitor the growth of the planted trees through its village volunteers. The plantation site has also been adopted for long-term development into a community green zone.

This initiative is a small but firm step toward building an eco-conscious rural society, and the Trust is committed to expanding similar efforts across other regions of Bihar and Jharkhand.

"Let’s not inherit the Earth from our ancestors, but borrow it responsibly for our children."
